1 Page per Weapon

I feel it would be great to expand the DF wiki by creating more pages. As such, could each weapon be given its own page?

We should keep the current weapon pages (eg Shotguns and Blunt) as they are, with a brief overview of each weapon. However, since our weapons do lack specific information (like number of hits to kill something), this information could be put into the new pages. It would not congest the current weapon pages, and makes reading the individual pages more worthwhile.

This would be a very tedious and lengthy task, and as such, it may not be feasible. It would definitely help if AdminPwn could give us the weapon damage tables, along with the zombie hitpoints tables (then we do the math). What are your thoughts, regarding this?

This is NOT a request, but a suggestion.

You know what i think is a great suggestion i think this should happen what do the rest of you think? --User:TeriffiedToxicBrandyBuB is my new nickname 10:44, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
It would be a good suggestion, should we have more information and people willing to commit themselves to doing this. Perhaps grab a group together first, get all the information, then we can do this. Though, there's so many weapons, it might get... a bit confusing.
Oh, and not to mention that this is kinda old. :P
Jarki 01:42, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
Not only old but also rather useless, with what little info of real importance is available for the public - thus a global list of weapon types is usually more useful till the displayed info about weapons changes dramatically...
Aside from that, I talked this comment over with Crystal Song a while ago, he also agreed that this is rather useless with the current (lack of) information about weapons, although we don't really need a whole lot more as of now either.

Just asking that is the shotgun Spas 12 (named SPSA-12 in dead frontier) a reference to the Spas 12 shotgun of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R game series because the Spas 12 was named SPSA 12 in stalker too. Also is the Chicago Typewriter a reference to Resident Evil 4?

Asking just out of my curiosity.

ACiD STALKER 12:59, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Though I don't know for sure, the SPSA may just be a coincidence, it might not be. I have no idea what games AdminPwn has and hasn't played, and no one really knows where he got it from. To avoid Copyright laws and such, he had to make sure to change the names so that he wasn't vulnerable to, well, having to pay someone for the rights.
The Chicago Typewriter may have been taken from Resident Evil 4, but the Chicago Typewriter was one of the many nicknames it acquired back when the Thompson 45 was popular, not necessarily a reference to Resident Evil 4's Chicago Typewriter.
Jarki 23:37, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the Chicago Typewriter might have somesort of connection to Resident Evil 4 because they both are zombie survival shooters and theres a few other references to Resident Evil gameseries here and there on DF... or then it may not be...
As for the 'SPSA-12' it might just be a coincidence as the Spas-12 in S.T.A.L.K.E.R games was called SPSA-14 so... Even tough DF and Stalker are both Zombie survival shooters or atleast survival shooters so... ah nevermind about me. Anyways, thanks for the help Jarki
ACiD STALKER 07:43, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
Neither is a "reference" to another game. The name "Chicago Typewriter" surely got far more publically known via RE4, but the actual name as used for the Thompson submachinegun has been widely known and used since the early 1920ies.
The "SPSA" is no reference either, although when AdminPwn first looked for renaming ideas, I showed him how STALKER did it (since it was one of the few games I played with obviously renamed weapons) and he ended up adopting that simple change, although the name change itself has no other relation to STALKER... also, STALKER is not a zombie game (only in a very minimal manner), but a survival shooter.

Marketplace Average price

Hey, I just thought ouf something. Seeing as we have a basic scrap price, why don't we have a overall average price found in the market. We could have it Mastercrafted items and Godcrafted items as well. It would help people alot. They would be able to see how much they would have to save to get their weapon of choice.

What do you think?

User:TeriffiedToxic Helping Wiki 10:30, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Having to regularly change the prices as they change at the marketplace seems too much of an effort, not to mention how easy and quick you are able to keep up-to-date without use of the wiki.Id haft to say no to that, but of course its just my oppinion.

Weapon stats?

Where do the weapons stats come from? Rent A Troop 20:18, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Some Weapons are the same as lower weapons of the same type. why?

While scanning the wiki i noticed that a number of weaponsare Exactly the same as some other weapons. The first example of this is in the blunts section. The Fire poker and the baseball bat do the same damage and have the same weapon speed and critical chance, The Golf Club and the Fire Axe are the same minus a +5 required melee skill for the fire axe. The next example is in the Machine guns section, the FN FMC, Mesa ACR, SA80 and the M16 are the exact same weapon only with a different look. After that, the Rifles, Glacial Warfare, Chesterfield and the M21 are examples of the same thing, clone weapons.

I have brought this up because i would like to properly decide which weapon to try getting, but it would help if there is a reason why there are different weapons with the same stats, and to have it displayed. Plus, i just don't see the point in having two weapons being Exactly the same, yet having a different drop chance for each one, if the stats on each weapon on this site was accurate, then there'd be no point in getting a fire axe when you can get a golf club for less, or a FN FMC and get the weapons after the M16 instead of getting the Mesa ACR, then the SA80, and the M16, then onto a weapon of different and better stats.

Could someone please fix this or tell me why some weapons have the same stats as others?

JacksonFelblade 03:26, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Blunts and Blades have a lot of 'identical' weapons stat-wise. Other than appearance there is no real difference between, let's say, a Katana and Battle Axe. The same rules applies to some other weapon types. I can't fully confirm that the MGs and Rifles you mentioned are 'identical' as well (I would need to check the game and I'm too lazy to do that ;)), but I wouldn't be surprised if they were. You can always go to the marketplace and confirm their stats there to find out for sure if the wiki is up to date with them. Sovq 06:55, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Reason? Look. Some weapon looks cooler than the others. Good. Dismiss
