Health is a common need for the well being of any survivor in a world, full of hungry zombies and aggressive humans. Keeping in mind the fact that it is not just zombie mauls to be feared, there are quite a few kinds of medication means in the city, unspoiled by the outbreak.

Medication and Health Basics

Players start with 100% health. 1 Health Point (HP) is lost every 60 minutes when starving (0% Hunger). Health will also be lost when hit by zombies or players in PvP (Player vs. Player).

Health (HP, Hit Points, Health Points or simply resistance to hits) is increased by adding points to Endurance. One point of endurance gives 2 HP. Endurance on armour behaves as pseudo HP. Overall it is reducing damage based on how much base health someone has that isn't on armour. This is most likely to avoid problems with wearing different endurance bonus armour(s). For simplicity's sake, 1 endurance point on armour is equivalent to 2 HP behind the scenes.

Several forms of medication exist, with varying effectiveness to restore the players health. They can be created by Scientists or found in the Inner City. When a survivor gains a level at an outpost, his / her health will be fully restored.

Health can be restored through various medical items. All medicines can now be self-administered since the update on March 15 came into effect, but all treatments will have a much better healing effect if administered by Doctors. As you level up healing will require progressively stronger treatments. Currently, you can still use items with healing levels below your character level. However, the effect is drastically reduced (Example: plasters and steri strips will restore a mere 3% health when administered on a level 11-20 character). It is much more practical to use items with a healing level equal to or higher than your character level.

To use a medical item, simply drag it from your inventory to the portrait of your character in the Inventory & Equipment screen. To hire a doctor and his services, go to the Marketplace, and search under the tab "Services - Medical". Be sure to have some money on you, as services are not free. Drag your healing item from your inventory onto the red cross, and you will be healed for 3x the regular effectiveness of the item.

Important Notes

  • The amount of health does not affect experience gains.
  • After reviving, health will be at serious if you are level 1-10, whereas characters level 11+ will revive at critical at 20%. So just watch out for damage after dying.
  • When you're in critical condition Stats are lowered by 50%.

Health Indicators

  • Healthy = 75 - 100%
  • Injured = 50 - 74%
  • Serious = 25 - 49%
  • Critical = 1 - 24%
  • DEAD = 0%

Morphine is a highly potent opiate analgesic drug and is the principal active agent in opium. Like heroin, morphine acts directly on the central nervous system to relieve pain. Level 41-70 Medication

Nerotonin-2
Nerotonin-2
Restores 12% Health
Restores 36% Health if administered
Healing Level 50
Can be administered by Doctor Level 45+

Scrap Value: $505
Nerotonin-2, also known as the N2 virus, is a predecessor to the disastrous N4 virus. The N2 Virus has been reprogrammed at a genetic level, to reconstruct damaged or missing tissue on a cellular scale, regenerating even the most serious of wounds in a matter of seconds. The reprogramming of the Virus also enables it to attack any foreign pathogens or infections, effectively curing most diseases, however it will not attack healthy human cells. Naturally, this made it ineffective for the curing of cancer, so work on the N3 virus began, leading to the shattered world we live in today. However, N-2 remains one of the strongest medicines we have in the field.

Level 70+ Medication

Nerotonin 8B
Nerotonin 8B
Restores 12% Health
Restores 36% Health if administered
Healing Level 80
Can be administered by Doctor Level 75+

Scrap Value: $1,605
Discovered in an abandoned medical facility that once belonged to Secronom, Nerotonin-8B has come as a breakthrough in finding the cure to the damned N-4 virus. Nerotonin-8B, or N-8B, is a special strain of modified N-2 virus, containing a mixture of characteristics that were observed in both the N-2 and N-3 viral strains. The virus is much more concentrated than the original N-2 strain. It also has been genetically engineered to respond much more rapidly and intensely to damaged tissue than its predecessor. Canisters of these viral gel capsules have therefore come as a major relief to many of Fairview's veteran survivors, who previously had to resort to multiple N-2 injections for treating serious wounds.

Steroids
Steroids
Restores 10% Health
Restores 30% Health if administered
Healing Level 80
Can be administered by Doctor Level 75+

Scrap Value: $1,605
Anabolic steroids were developed in the 1930s. Prior to the outbreak, they were most commonly associated with dishonest athletes who abused them illegally in major sporting events. However, they were also medically used to stimulate bone growth and appetite, as well as to treat chronic wasting conditions (conditions that caused muscle atrophy), such as cancer and AIDS. Using them long-term or in excess was known to result in serious side effects such as high blood pressure, liver damage, and heart conditions. However, in a recent study conducted by Fort Pastor scientists, the physiological effects of the weakened N-3 virus strain (with which all survivors are inoculated) were found to allow a survivor's body to metabolize anabolic steroid compounds much more rapidly and without danger of organ damage--thus eliminating any chance of these side effects occurring. This has made steroids a popular medicine of choice for veteran survivors when treating fractured or broken bones, bruised or torn muscle tendons, and other injuries suffered at the claws of the infected.

Mini First Aid Kit
Mini First Aid Kit
Restores 20% Health
Healing Level 80

Scrap Value: $1,605
Secronom-branded first aid kits were sold commercially in Fairview, and became a common sight amongst the various cabins and facilities in Raven Ridge. Normally, these medkits wouldn't help much with anything beyond minor stab wounds - but since this is Secronom we are talking about, they are packed to the brim with N-2 treated bandages, steroids, morphine, and all sorts of other experimental treatments that might have a quick acting effect on Secronom's most N-2-enhanced customers. Completing the package are several illustrated instructions on how to inject/consume the various chemicals included, allowing even those unfamiliar with first aid, or the English language, to get good mileage out of the medkit.

Nerotonin 5A
Nerotonin 5A
Restores 40% Health
Healing Level 80

Scrap Value: $15,000
After the events in the southeast area, multiple new classes of infected were discovered, as well as weaponry capable of dealing with them, although the discovery that most surprised survivors as well as scientists was a new experimental drug produced from the failed N-4 virus (which condemned all civilization and that is why we are as we are today). Codenamed N-5A, this new variant of the infamous Nerotonin has been a blessing to the few remaining citizens of this decaying city. Studies conducted by Secronom Bunker scientists under Dr. Adler have shown that this state-of-the-art medicine It is capable of offering a more powerful healing effect than the one observed in the 8B variant, capable of healing any type of wound, from a lodged bullet, to a disembowelment (if it is attended to in time, of course) in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, it has been proven that it has almost no effect on those infected by the N4 virus, although experiments with this drug continue to this day, as it is believed to be the key to putting an end to this disease. Several theorize that this drug is still being manufactured in the depths of the southeast facility, although to date no one knows if this is true or not...
